Don't be fooled by the thick texture of avocado oil - it is well absorbed by the skin and hair! But that's just one of the benefits of this wonderful oil which also hydrates, conditions, protects and strengthens.

Avocado (Persea gratissima, syn. Persea americana) is the fruit of a subtropical tree, native to Mexico and South America. The tree is a member of the laurel family (Lauraceae) and there are approximately 500 varieties, which produce fruits ranging from small and egg-like to heavy, pear-shaped fruits.

Warmly welcomed by thirsty and irritated scalps, avocado oil delivers vitamins and nutrients to the hair follicles, encouraging the growth of strong and healthy hair. Additionally, it helps untangle curls and gives lots of shine.

Like sesame oil, avocado oil is said to protect the skin from UV rays. It isn’t strong enough to be used as a sunscreen, but it’s recommended in skincare to help protect the skin from premature ageing signs that can be caused by exposure to sunlight. It is also thought to reduce age spots and the appearance of scars, thanks to a substance called sterolin.
