The sweet and pungent ginger root has been recommended as an aphrodisiac by many civilisations through the centuries. Coincidence? We don’t think so.
Nearly all of our fresh fruit and vegetables are purchased from the same specialist distributor, whom Lush UK has been working with since 2005. Depending on the time of year, they source products from different countries to try and have availability all year round. They work hard to supply as much organic product as possible and provide the highest quality available the rest of the time.
With seven manufacturing sites across the globe, this information may vary depending on where your Lush products were made.
The ginger plant thrives in India, Africa and Indonesia. Like turmeric, cardamom and galanga, it belongs to the Zingiberaceae family. Although it grows up to a metre tall, it’s the root (or rhizome) that is edible and used in medicine and cosmetics. It contains a substance called zingiberene, which is antibacterial and anti-inflammatory.
